(*) Assumes 1/8” thick recycled ABS plastic pellets used as resin for injection molding. Some design trade-offs can be found here that use different thicknesses of plastic and different plastics. Some small amount should be added to the cost for metallic paint to cover all visible surfaces of the pad.
Total weight of a LaserPad (accurate to within 1 lb.): 53 lbs.
Total weight is almost completely dependent upon weight of plastic materials.
Total cost of materials to manufacture one LaserPad: $55.61
Labor / machinery / energy cost is of course not included.
Suggested retail price: $125
Assuming reasonable manufacturing costs, the pad should be able to sell for this amount, rendering a satisfactory profit.
